My Story into Virtual Assistance
For as long as I can remember, it's always been an innate nature of mine to be organized, meticulous in projects & assignments (in both professional and personal tasks), relentlessly seek the how's and the why's behind problems, and thoughtfully explore different avenues to find solutions... pretty much being a perfectionist. Every now and then, would I encounter a task that I'd tenaciously go back & forth with, just to finally come to the conclusion that perhaps this is just out of my control. If that be the case, I'll willingly wave the white flag and leave its resolution to God and to time. Other than that, I find satisfaction in all of the above. It is for this very reason I believe why family and friends have me first in mind, when they want a task or a project to be thoroughly approached and completed. Well, I enjoy it. So as long as I have the time then, Sure! Why not!
The easiest way to know your purpose in life, or an assignment that is yours, is becoming aware of what brings you fulfillment and is simultaneously a service to others. I mean it sounds cliche, but there's truth in this principle. The nature of Virtual Assistance was something I've always been performing freely for others without even being aware that it was a marketable skill!
The door to Virtual Assistance opening up in my life, is fully credited to the birth of my daughter. God strategically uses circumstances to allow certain doors to open only when and after another door closes. Having a baby led to a specific door in my life closing, which was completely out of my control and definitely not something which I saw coming, only to realize in hindsight that this was inevitable in order for me to market my passion into a paid skill. I am a mother with such a fulfillment, that it made all too much sense to be a woman who can simultaneously wear two hats at once: a mom and a boss. It's one of the greatest satisfactions, ever.
“Sometimes it takes more strength to let go than it does to hold on”.
This open door is what led to the creation of A. VA Creatives. Contrary to the popular misconception, A. VA Creatives isn't an acronym for "Amazing Virtual Assistants" or Auspicious, Authentic, Acclaimed, or whatever "A"-word adjective + "Virtual Assistants" that people assume. Nope, A. VA Creatives is simply named after my daughter, Ava :) mommy's superstar.
Events such as becoming a mother and the happenings thereafter, are further confirmation that sometimes it takes more strength to let go than it does to hold on. I am forever grateful for every situation that has coaxed (sometimes forced) my hand to simply relax and release its grip from whatever it was holding on to. I am also grateful for every door that has led to the next. It's the journey that is always the prize, and not necessarily the prize, itself.
I've learned that the answers are always right in front of us, but we are unfortunately content in remaining blind at times to see them. Life really is simple, we just choose to make it complicated. Yet these are the basic tools to realizing one's assignment(s) in life - awareness & simplicity. Recognize what you enjoy doing and when you do, don't overthink it, just do it. See how far it takes you.
